Abducted One-Year-Old Recovered Safely

CPD 4-12-19

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on April 11, one-year-old Gregory Marks was recovered by the Aurora Police Department at a residence in Aurora, Colorado.  Marks was abducted from Cheyenne earlier in the day by his mother’s boyfriend, Mijito Johnson, 26, of Cheyenne.  Johnson struck Marks’ pregnant mother multiple times before taking Marks from her arms and fleeing to his brother’s house in Colorado.  An Amber Alert was issued in Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma, prompting a multi-state search for the abducted child.

Officers with the Aurora Police Department found Johnson’s vehicle abandoned in a parking lot and located him a short distance away at his brother’s residence.

Johnson remains in police custody in Colorado and a warrant has been issued for his extradition to Wyoming for interference with child custody and two counts of aggravated assault against a pregnant woman.  The Cheyenne Police Department is grateful to everyone who called in with tips on this case and to the local and federal law enforcement agencies who assisted in Marks’ safe recovery.
