Changes Coming for Converse And Dell Range Intersection

By Staff 9-7,2016

Work is underway to improve one of Cheyenne’s most crash prone intersections; Converse Avenue and Dell Range Boulevard. Over the course of the summer, City staff, Metropolitan Planning Organization, and HDR planners have met to discuss a new two part traffic and storm water study for the Converse/Dell Range Intersection & Converse Avenue north of Dell Range Boulevard.

It is time to open the conversation to the community. A Public Open House will be held on September 13th  from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Anderson Elementary School, 2204 Plainview Road. At this meeting, the HDR project team will present preliminary materials to the public with the intentions to uncover the community’s greatest needs at this intersection.

In recent years, development growth around Converse Avenue has shown a need for improvements on the roadway and storm sewer system. This new study will provide a preliminary design to improve the roadway, Greenway, sidewalks and storm sewer system between Dell Range Boulevard and Ogden Road. The effort will also provide possible designs for the Converse Avenue and Dell Range Boulevard. intersection, where 264 total crashes occurred between the years 2006-2010 and more than 30,000 vehicles and hundreds of pedestrians and cyclists travel through the intersection daily.

You are invited to help shape a better future for our city. Those who are unable to attend or want to learn more about the project are encouraged to view the open house materials at www.plancheyenne.org/mpo-project/conversedellrange/where you can also submit comments, follow the Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization – MPO Facebook page, or contact the project manager, Nancy Olson at 307-638-4385 or nolson@cheyennempo.org .
