The City of Cheyenne will hold a grand opening of the inclusive playground at Cahill Park at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 10. An inclusive playground allows people of all abilities to play together.
The event is open to the public.
The playground is located on the north side of Cahill Park, located at Dell Range Boulevard and Friendship Circle.
A free pancake breakfast will be offered by the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club after the inclusive playground ribbon is cut by Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr.
The grand opening is in conjunction with the Cheyenne Greenway Foundation’s Spring Into Green. This 8th Annual Event includes a 5K run and 2K fun walk. The Spring Into Green event starts at 8:30 a.m. at Cahill Park. You can register online or at the race location. Registration cost for the run and walk is $30 for adults, $25 for seniors 60 plus and youth ages 6-17. For more information about Spring Into Green and to register, visit www.cheyennegreenwayfoundation.org.
Funding for the $1.3 million Friendship Playground came from a joint public/private partnership. Construction started in the fall of 2016 and was completed a short while ago.
