Person Arrested for False 911 Calls

CPD   11-7-17

The Cheyenne Police Department has arrested Matthew Barbera, 35, of Cheyenne, in connection with false 911 calls to report emergencies at multiple locations in Cheyenne.  Between September 17, and November 5, the CPD responded to numerous gun threats, bomb threats and false 911 calls throughout Cheyenne including a bomb threat called in to the Laramie County Courthouse and Alta Vista School on November 3.  CPD officers responded to these locations and did not find any dangerous materials or evidence of bombs.  On November 6, CPD investigators determined that Barbera was responsible for calling in false reports to the Laramie County Combined Communications Center and he was arrested.  The CPD is still investigating the possible connection between Barbera and the bomb threats made last week.
