By Staff – 22 Sept ’14

University of Wyoming senior place-kicker Stuart Williams earned the first Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honor of his career on Monday, when the conference named him MW Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance versus Florida Atlantic.

Williams kicked a 50-yard field goal in the second quarter to give the Cowboys a 10-3 lead. It was the longest field goal of Williams career. Then with only 15 seconds remaining in the game, Williams converted an 18-yard, game-winning field goal to help Wyoming record a dramatic comeback in the final 2:09 of the game.

Williams was perfect on the day, making both field-goal attempts and both PAT attempts to score eight points. The senior is also perfect on the season, converting 4 of 4 field goals and 8 of 8 PATs.

This week’s MW Offensive Player of the Week was running back Jay Ajayi of Boise State, and the Defensive Player of the Week was linebacker Dakota Cox of New Mexico.
