WyoLottoTM is preparing for big changes to the national game Mega MillionsⓇ. The game is being redesigned to bring more value to players with larger jackpots starting at $40 million, and better odds to win $1 million and higher secondary prizes. The redesign also includes a new way to play, called “Just the JackpotⓇ.”

Just the Jackpot is a new feature allowing players to make a $3 wager to receive two Quick PickⓇ plays for a chance at only the jackpot.

“The addition of Just the Jackpot adds in a new layer of fun for the players who really want to chase the jackpot and go all in for the big prize, so we really like that players get a new way to play this great game!” said WyoLotto CEO Jon Clontz.

The enriched game will debut on Oct. 28. The ticket price will also change from $1 to $2 and will still include the MegaplierⓇ option for an additional $1 per play.

Clontz said the team at WyoLotto is thrilled to see the game get a refresh in response to players demand for innovation. Mega Millions is a national draw game available in 44 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“With Wyoming’s lottery options limited to draw games, we get excited to have new ways for players to have fun with those games, so the redesign will really bring new energy to the game,” Clontz said.

Players will now select five numbers from 1 to 70, and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. Overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.

Mega Millions was introduced in 1996 as The Big Game. As the game grew, it became Mega Millions in May 2002. The largest jackpot for the game was in 2012 at $656 million, which was split by three winners in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 p.m. Mountain Time.
